Exceptional Closure: BBC Sports Personality of The Year

Titanic Belfast & SS Nomadic will this year form part of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2015 programme and as a result will be closed on Sunday 20 December.

The world’s largest Titanic visitor attraction has been selected to host the red carpet event ahead of BBC Sports Personality of the Year which is taking place for the first time in Northern Ireland at the SSE Arena.

The exceptional closure has been approved by Titanic Foundation Limited, as Titanic Belfast works with the BBC, Belfast City Council and Tourism NI to deliver the star-studded event in Belfast.

Titanic Belfast’s Chief Executive, Tim Husbands MBE, commented, “Over the last decade, over a billion pounds has been spent to transform Belfast into a vibrant event city – we are now capable of hosting signature events such as BBC Sports Personality of the Year’s red carpet. At Titanic Belfast, we are delighted to be involved with this project. The show will shine a spotlight on Belfast as it airs to millions watching on BBC One, demonstrating that Northern Ireland is open for business on the local, national and international stage.”

All individual, group bookings and tour operators have received advanced notification of the closure on Sunday 20 December.

Visitor to the area should note that entrance and exit roads to Titanic Belfast and SS Nomadic may also be subject to closure on Sunday 20 December.
